I felt so bad screaming loudly at my grandfather, if only I knew the solution earlier! A proper fitted hearing aid can change lives!

Reminiscing those days with my grandfather, memories of the past, I felt so awful and bad for screaming at him loudly when having a normal conversation. I was told by my family members that that’s the only way. He can’t hear you!  I am sure they too wished they had a solution. My grandfather did use a pair of hearing aid but it still did not help. (I always thought and wondered why?)

One day, I saw an elderly man communicating with his friends at the restaurant. I noticed that he was using a hearing aid. Although I was very shy and apprehensive, deep down inside I wanted to know where did he get his hearing aid? how come it works and what was the difference between his hearing aid and my grandfather’s? So I approached him.

He was nice and highly recommended Clarisound Professional Hearing Care. Excitedly I shared this information with my family. When we stepped into Clarisound, we felt the warmth and care from the Clarisound staff.

We were introduced to  Mr. Mccarry. He patiently explained to us the technology and the different type of hearing aid system that are available. One cannot underestimate the importance of hearing technology but hearing aids are only as good as the programming carried out by the hearing care professional or audiologist.

The moment Mr. Mccarry fitted my grandfather with the hearing aid, adjusted the hearing aid and called his name, I could see the smile on my grandfather’s face! That moment was truly heartwarming! There are no words to describe our emotions. Just tears of joy!!.

We were fortunate to have him with us for the next 6 months. Sometimes, I do wonder if only, I found this solution earlier. Whatever it is, I am glad that Clarisound helped make the last few months the best few months of his life!

Clarisound Professional Hearing Care, Thank you for changing our lives!”

Give the Gift of hearing this Christmas!

Connect with your loved ones this Christmas!

Christmas is a wondrous time filled with love, laughter, and the typical sounds of a holiday. Listening to your favourite Christmas carols and hearing the words to sing along. Participating in family conversations and excitable kids sharing their stories over Christmas lunch. BUT to the one in your family who has difficulty hearing, they hear no joy.

We don’t like to be negative about Christmas. But with hearing difficulties affecting almost 1 in 5 Malaysians and 3 out of 5 of those who could benefit from hearing loss treatment fail to seek help for up to 15 years!!!!

Studies have linked untreated hearing loss to depression, isolation and feelings of stress. Social events at Christmas can be challenging and exhausting.  These feelings can intensify during the holiday season.

This Christmas, connect and  help return your loved one to the world of sound by giving them the gift of hearing! Clarisound Professional Hearing Care offers free hearing check and consultation this month. Contact us at 03 2282 1882.

Have you had your hearing checked? If you are in your 50’s and planning your retirement, do read on for some valuable tips.

Statistically, we all begin to loose our hearing  when we are in our 30s and 40s. More than half of all the people over the age of 80 suffer from hearing loss. 1 in 5 Malaysian suffer from hearing loss.

Stay connected to your loved ones!

Age related hearing loss is called presbycusis. First experience of a person who has presbycusis is a decline in their ability  to hear high frequency sounds.

In speech the high consonants would be F, S, Th , K ,P . A person would have difficulty listening to the high consonants in a conversation.

Another sign of a person who has presbycusis is that they have difficulty hearing in noisy environments.  Men’s voice tends to be clearer compared to women’s voice.

You may complain that the person is not speaking clearly and usually ask people to repeat themselves.

Unfortunately there are no cures for Presbycusis. However, the good news is that there are a few things you can do.

  1. Protect your hearing in noisy environments. As when you retire, you will have more time for your hobbies, you should protect your  hearing when you attend concerts, F1 races or attend celebrations (Chinese New Year) especially when they have  fireworks and lion dance performances.
  2.  Get your hearing checked  yearly!
  3. The good news is, hearing aid would be able to improve your ability to understand speech and depending on your hearing loss, the hearing aid can be programmed to your level of hearing loss.

If your family members complain that you keep asking them to repeat themselves  or keep asking you to turn the volume on the TV down you should get your hearing checked. Clarisound offers FREE hearing check.  We would be more than happy to assist you and answer any of your questions.

Consequences of untreated hearing loss. Hearing loss isn’t just an ear issue, it’s a quality of life and a health issue.

Many people are aware that their hearing has deteriorated but are reluctant to seek help. Most believe that they can “get along” without using a hearing aid. And unfortunately too many wait years or even decades to address the effects of hearing loss before getting assistance.

A recent study by John Hopkins and the National Institute of Aging found a correlation between untreated hearing loss and a loss of cognitive function, nothing a higher risk of developing forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s. All those people who can’t hear in restaurants or other noisy places, or who complain that people around them mumble when they speak and complain that they can’t hear on the telephone are putting themselves at risk for cognitive decline.

Untreated hearing loss can affect a person’s ability to understand speech, as well as negatively impact their social, emotional and physical well-being.

Many hearing loss sufferers self-isolate by withdrawing from their family, friends, and colleagues as their frustration grows. Incidents of serious depression are higher in those with untreated hearing loss.

Recycle your used hearing aid batteries with Clarisound today!

We live in a world filled with gizmos and gadgets; most of these things require power.  Many portable devices run on batteries. Hearing aids are no exception. Most hearing aids run on a battery of a very specific type: zinc-air or Nickel Cadmium NiCd / (rechargeable batteries).

The zinc-air battery contains a highly conductive potassium hydroxide electrolyte and a zinc anode. When this combination is exposed to air by removing a small sticker from the back of the battery (uncovering a small inlet of holes), it produces electricity for a given length of time. How long the batteries would last would depend on many factors (the level of your hearing loss, environment (altitude), individuals hearing usage etc).

As you will be regularly changing your hearing aid batteries, you may be attempted to toss the batteries into your trash.

While convenient, tossing these tiny batteries into your trash may actually harm the environment.

Batteries and the environment

Zinc air or NiCd batteries found in most hearing aid should never be tossed in with your household trash.

Batteries can leach toxic chemicals (such as cadmium or lead) into the ground, contaminating soil and water. If groundwater is contaminated, it carries the contaminants with it as it moves. This can cause soil and water pollution and endanger wildlife.

Batteries and human health

Nickel is toxic in high doses but the cadmium in rechargeable batteries is one of the most dangerous substances. According to the World Health Organization, cadmium has toxic effects on the kidneys, the skeletal system and the respiratory system. It is classified as a human carcinogen.

Recycling batteries safe energy

But there is another reason to keep batteries out of landfill. The metals in batteries, including zinc, nickel, silver and cadmium, can be recovered and reused.

Using recycled metals from batteries also saves energy. According to the European Union Batteries Directive, using recycled cadmium and nickel requires 46 per cent and 75 per cent less primary energy, respectively, than extracting and refining virgin

Recycleyour hearing aid batteries (1)

Clarisound would like to do their part to reduce the environmental impact of hearing aid batteries by collecting them and sending them to a recycling centre. We are the FIRST hearing aid company in Malaysia to launch a recycle your used hearing aid batteries with us.

You can drop your used hearing aid batteries at any of our Clarisound outlets.

Recycling promotes the “take, make and reuse” circular model that will help to sustain our planet for generations to come.

Please help improve the recycling rate of batteries by participating in our Clarisound hearing aid battery recycling campaign.

Changing Lives! This is what Clarisound Professional Hearing Care is all about.

We are pleased to share another testimony by our customer Fred.  We are all smiles at Clarisound. This is the reason why we keep going …

Dear Kieran

Mine is another success story you can add to your list. We first tried to solve my hearing problems almost eight years ago, in 2009, without much success. You and your staff tried, but the technology was not up to the task.

By 2009, the technology was good, but I could not adapt to having the sound driven into my head. After having tried a dozen different models over 40 years, I had given up hope. I could not use any hearing aid for more than four hours a day, three days per week.

And so this year, when you proposed the Siemens Signia Motion device, I suspended my disbelief only because I trust you. And that has paid off. big time.

From the start, even before I left your office, I knew we had finally found something that works. I almost deaf, but as soon as you fitted this new device, could I hear like I could when I was 30 years old.

Now, first thing in the morning, I plug in my “new ears” and 16 hours later I put them in the charging device so they are ready next morning. Right from day one, every day, even when I am not going anywhere and nobody is visiting. Not only that, but this Easytek thing I wear around my neck connects me without wires to my smartphone and my tablet. So I can listen on the phone or watch Youtube without bothering anyone and still hear what’s going on around me.

Best investment I have made for home and work, because I can now hear not only the words, but also the tones of voice that carry the emotions of the speaker. Great for meetings and also with family and friends.

I hear both the words and the feelings behind the words. I don’t know how close the new Signia gets to natural sound, but I now hear the birds and the rain and the wind in the trees.

Thanks for changing my life and for the better
